Woman dies after being thrown from car bonnet into zebra crossing
Tuesday, 05 March 2013
A WOMAN has died after she was thrown from the bonnet of a car into a zebra crossing light on New Barnet yesterday evening.
Police and ambulance services were called to the East Barnet Road at around 6.40pm to reports of a woman suffering head injuries.
It is believed the woman, who was in her 30s was involved in an argument with another woman driver. Police believe that she left her car and was carried on the bonnet of the other woman’s car before falling into a Belisha beacon, the orange light indicating a zebra crossing.
The other car then drove away.
Paramedics pronounced the woman, who is yet to be formally identified, dead at the scene.
Police subsequently attended an address in Barnet and arrested a woman in connection with the inquiry. She is now in custody at a north London. A Vauxhall Insignia has been recovered.
Murder detectives are said to be investigating the incident.
A post-mortem will be scheduled in due course.
