Spurs boss Pochettino unfazed by Conte comments

TOTTENHAM manager Mauricio Pochettino has downplayed recent comments by Chelsea boss Antonio Conte suggesting that whereas the West Londoners expect to win, Spurs merely hope to do so.

Interviewed prior to Wednesday night’s matches, which resulted in victories for both clubs, the Italian said: "I think the difference between Chelsea and Tottenham is this: if you stay in Chelsea and win it’s normal. If you stay in Tottenham, if you win it’s great, great, but if you lose...it’s not a disaster, no?"

However, Pochettino was unfazed by his comments, explaining: "I didn’t hear him say that but I can understand. It is normal for them to win the league. But now it’s up to them. I don’t believe in mind games."

Pochettino, who is preparing his men for tomorrow’s clash with Watford, also scoffed at suggestions by Hornets manager Walter Mazzari that an injury crisis meant he "had no defence" to face the Lilywhites.

He said: "They won’t with eight or nine players - they will play with 11, like us. Now that’s a mind game!"
